Engineering Week: NSE President Applauds Engr. Ukeme Okpob on Groundbreaking

The National President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Babagana Mohammed FNSE has commended the Chairman of Uyo Branch of the Society, Engr. Ukeme Okpob MNSE for his commitment and efforts towards the building of the National Engineering Center Annex/Branch Secretariat in Uyo.

Engr. Mohammed made the recommendation on Thursday when he inspected the site of the building project at Atan Offot Community in Uyo Akwa Ibom State Capital.

Engr. Mohammed said good effort is made for the actualization of the project and acknowledged the job well done by Engineers handling the project. He noted that building and organizing conference that attracts the attention of all Nigerian Engineers in this time of dwindling economy deserves commendation and support.

He said that Engineers are the Society builders and Uyo Branch is ready to set the pace with a new structural design that will attract the attention of the masses. He also added that Engineers are the options and solutions providers that maximize social value and minimise environmental impact.

He commended the cooperation, unity and efforts of all Engineers in Uyo Branch and encouraged the Branch to collaborate with government on developmental projects.

Welcoming the National President to Uyo, the Chairman of NSE Uyo Branch, Engr. Ukeme Okpob appreciate the National President for finding time to attend Ibom 2021 Engineering Week and briefed the National President on the progress made so far on the project.

Engr. Okpob who was accompanied by his Executive Committee Members and some Fellows of the Society to the site, assured the President that he will put on his best with the collective efforts of all members of the Society in Uyo Branch to ensure that the project is completed at the stipulated time.

He acknowledged the numerous contributions of all Engineers on Ibom 2021 Engineering Week/Conference and encouraged all the Engineers to continue participating in the remaining activities of the week.

Engr. Babagana Mohammed had a breakfast meeting with some Senior Engineers in Akwa Ibom State and as well attended the 82nd Inaugural Lecture of the University of Uyo, presented by Prof. Benjamin Reuben Etuk of Chemical and Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering at 1000 Seater Capacity of TETFUND Auditorium of the Main Campus of the University.
