Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, over the weekend played host to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. He described the visit as timely, and the beginning of a geometric progression in the state’s economic fortune.
Speaking during a worship and prayer session at the Later House Chapel, Government House, Uyo, Governor Emmanuel said the visit was significant of God’s blessing upon the land and the beginning of a new era.
He expressed confidence that, in line with the declarations of the cleric, the era of new things has already begun in the state and that whatever was dead in the state will come alive again, with multiplied peace for the state.
The session was also attended by renowned gospel ministers across the globe, including the Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, the Senior Pastor of Jesus House Parish of the RCCG, London, Pastor Agu Irukwu, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Affair, Rev. Daniel Akwatang and others.
According to Governor Emmanuel, “God follows a geometric progression. He says one shall chase a thousand; two shall chase ten thousand, not two thousand. That is a geometric progression. So when you see such congregation of ministers here, you can imagine what will happen in the state. There is going to be a geometric progression in our economic prosperity”.
Furthermore, “I’m so confident that what God is about to do for us as a people has already begun and so shall it be in Jesus name. So on behalf of the state, the government and good people that we appreciate all the ministers of God that are here”, the governor said.
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, said his presence and the convergence of men of God at the Akwa Ibom State Government House was not an accident, as he affirmed that for a new era to begin in the state was God’s intention.
The General Overseers of one of Nigeria’s largest Christian denominations, who was in the state for a meeting with leaders of the RCCG congregations in Region 14, equated his stopping by the Akwa Ibom State Government House to the biblical event in Mark 5:25-34 where a woman interrupted Jesus Christ while on transit and drew virtue from him.
Offering prayers for the people, government and the governor of the state, Pastor Adeboye besieged God to give guide Governor Emmanuel to continue being a blessing to the Akwa Ibom people through the remaining days of his administration; that God would save the state from destroyers and that when he has chosen a worthy successor, he should reveal whom that will be to his son, Governor Emmanuel.
Delivering a sermon on the theme, God is Doing a New Thing, drawn from Isaiah 43:19, the Senior Pastor of Jesus House Parish of the RCCG in London, Pastor Agu Irukwu, said a major obstacle to receiving a new dimension of God’s blessing is being comfortable with the familiar.
He said the currency of getting anything from God is faith and that people who lack faith are trapped by fear to remain at a comfort zone for too long and so urged Akwa Ibom to discard fear and move by faith into God’s era of new things for them.
