Uyai A’Ibom Holds As Organizer Says Alleged Queen’s Nude Picture Still Exists

Few hours to the Uyai Akwa Ibom beauty contest at Ibom Hall, Mr Emmanuel Ita Udombon, the handler of the pageantry brand, has told newsmen in Uyo today that the nude picture of Miss Blessing Ekaeba, who was declared the winner of the 2019 edition, is still in the custody of the management.

Udombon, who made this confirmation while Barr. Okpo Ewa, Board Member 1 of the Akwa Ibom Hotels and Tourism Board was interacting with newsmen, said though the obscene image was not stored on his phone, it is with someone else.

Following a closed-door meeting between the board and the conflicting parties which ended in a stalemate, Barr. Ewa, who was given go-ahead to speak with the press by Prince Ini Akpabio, the Chairman of the state Hotels and Tourism Board,  said Uyai Akwa Ibom second edition is now under Silver Consult and not De-Niche Entertainment.

Okpo said the board has given a nod for Silver Consult to go ahead with the pageantry, having fulfilled all the requirements from the state Hotels and Management Board.

He said De-Niche Entertainment had handed over the management of Uyai Akwa Ibom brand to Silver Consult, an event said to have happened before the brand’s first-ever queen, Blessing Ekaeba.

But the embattled pageant queen, when later asked by newsmen if she was part of the handing over arrangement, vehemently denied having any knowledge of such development, saying she has just heard about Silver Consult for the first time.

When enquired about the period Silver Consult fulfilled the requirements and given approval by the board to stage the pageantry, Ewa said such information could only be disclosed with the Freedom of Information Act.

Meanwhile, the mother of the aggrieved beauty queen, Mrs Cornelia Ekaeba, said she had to stage a walkout from the meeting along with her daughter when she felt something was fishy.

It would be recalled that Mr Emmanuel Udombon during a phone call with our correspondent identified himself with the De-Niche Entertainment, threatening to expose the queen’s nude picture if pushed to the wall. Our correspondent had sought to clarify if Miss Blessing Ekaeba had been dethroned for any reason of scandal even as the agency still used her photographs for advertisement, the enraged Udombon hung up.

Miss Ekaeba had alleged that, as a Brand’s queen, she was yet to receive any of the prizes promised her by the organizers as widely advertised during the 2019 pageantry but she was surprised to realize that the organizers had already started advertising the second edition with posters carrying her photograph and being circulated on social and traditional media without official notice to her.

As evidenced on a flyer which advertized Uyai Akwa Ibom 2019 and made available to our medium, the winner was expected to get a N200,000 cash prize along with a trip to Ghana, a one-year movie deal and a wardrobe allowance, but Miss Blessing Ekaeba told our correspondent that De-Niche Entertainment has not fulfilled any of those promises.

Another participant, Miss Victoria Augustine, who emerged the second runner-up in the 2019 edition of Miss Uyai Akwa Ibom, had bitterly expressed her grievances while speaking with our correspondent saying she was not contacted by the organizers to get all her entitlements as promised since the first edition was concluded about two years ago.
